TOTAL AND SAUDI ARAMCO JOIN ENERGISTICS
Upstream
open standards consortium increases membership by 44% in 2007
TOTAL
and Saudi Aramco, two of the largest global energy companies, have joined
Energistics, the upstream oil and gas open standards
consortium. Their memberships capped a successful year in which
twenty-seven new members including energy companies, oilfield service
companies, professional service companies and software companies joined
the Energistics community to participate in the development and
deployment of collaborative data exchange technologies. The
Energistics membership community now consists of 89 global upstream
organizations.

Proposed
Geophysics
SIG
A new Geophysics Special Interest
Group has been proposed by Energistics member Oil & Natural Gas
Corporation of India (ONGC), to indentify the current needs and
requirements for open standards and improved work practices for seismic
data exchange. With initial funding from ONGC, an Assessment Work
Group has been formed under the leadership of Energistics to assess
industry requirements, produce a business case, and to develop a roadmap
with a resource estimate for the potential new open standards.
Informational meetings have been held in Houston, Mumbai and
Hyderabad. If you are interested in participating on this

South Asia Region Meeting
Over 125 upstream oil and gas professionals met in
Hyderabad, India on 13 January 2008 to hear about Energistics
collaborative technologies and to share real world experiences in the
deployment and use of open data exchange standards. Sponsored by
ONGC and Satyam, the all day meeting was capped by a reception and
dinner hosted by Mr. D. K. Pande, Energistics Director and Director
(Exploration) ONGC. Companies represented included ONGC, Reliance
Industries, Satyam, Eni, Microsoft, SDC Geologix, Knowledge Systems,
IBM and Geometric.
