PRODML™, the Production Markup Language, is the Energistics' family of energy industry standards for the Production domain. Energistics® is an international, not-for-profit membership standards organization. Energistics is uniquely designed to unite industry people, issues and ideas to collaboratively address E&P information challenges and opportunities.
Five energy companies, eight vendors and Energistics, then POSC, started development of new standards for production optimization in Q3 of 2005. Since November 2006, Energistics received custody and began managing the future evolution of the standards. The objective of PRODML is to be a low cost, low risk, and highly innovative environment for the configuration and running of advanced optimization processes.

PRODML SIG
Energistics also hosts the PRODML Special Interest Group, a user community of over forty organizations that sets direction, drives issue resolution, and promotes use.
